Sophi Reinholt grew up trailing a photographer –
her mother. Her father worked for the United
Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
dedicated to the welfare of Palestinian refugees.
Spending her childhood in Jordan, Syria, the West
Bank and East Jerusalem, the abundant mix of
religions, cultures, and languages sparked an early
fascination with people and their narratives.
At the age of twelve, she received her first film
camera. Although Sophi now works primarily in
digital formats, her passion for capturing portraits
and the stories of the people around her remain
at the heart of her practice.

For Artists Open Studios Whanganui 2026, Sophi
presents a selection of her travel and protest
photography, alongside acrylic and mixed media
works.

Through her professional practice, Sophi Roar, she
offers services in graphic design, creative direction,
website design and development, photography
and videography.

STUDiO LYS is Sophis’ creative hub and workspace.
