Mel is an artist, but most recently a ceramic artists, they love the tactile nature of the craft, and how art can be both functional and beautiful.
Mel lives in two worlds with their ceramics, one is full of bold glazes, and simple elegant forms.
The other is exploring the world both of and through patterns. They use their unique illustrative style to enhance the forms of their ceramics through the use of repeating patterns.
For Open Studios 2025, Mel has been mainly focusing on their functional pieces while they ponder the next big illustration based project, but there will definitely be some quirky pieces mixed in.
