Glen Macmillan

I am a sculptor who works in two very different material disciplines. i sculpt wax into creatures from nature, mythology and my imagination. Unlike a number of sculptors I perform all my own foundry work to transform each piece into a unique cast bronze sculpture.
I also make Steel Junk Art using assemblages using various joining techniques. I make my sculptures from certain tools and machinery with minimal cutting or bending so every piece is recognisable. That is real Junk Art. I do not use scrap steel or make a steel frame and simply attach tools to it.
I believe Art is not the object but rather the experience of it. Art should try to engage you in some way, make you feel, react, even question. I create my sculptures with respect, sometimes humor, wonder and layers of detail and meaning (not all obvious) to that end.
