Dennis Clark

Dennis is a self-taught artist. When he was 11 years of age his late father found him trying to draw figures from the Disney Comics. His father started encouraging him, and this kicked-started his life-long hobby of art. That was in 1944. Two years later he started teaching himself the art of watercolours.

During the following years he taught himself to paint in Oils, Acrylics, Gouache, Pastels, Pen and Ink, Calligraphy and others. Dennis started a very successful and popular art teaching studio in 1985. He retired from Engineering in 1994 to pursue a career as a professional artist.

In 2000 he, and his son Nolan, franchised the Paint Basket Studio in South Africa. They eventually had 5 fine art studios with a combined student total of 250 students coming for classes each week.

Dennis emigrated to New Zealand early 2009 and opened a teaching studio in the Auckland North Shore. He relocated to Wanganui early 2016.

Today he, and his son, teach over the internet only via their popular website paintbasket.com

Dennis has many paintings available to view by appointment and welcomes commissions.
