Helen Bacon has an eclectic multidisciplinary background in Fine Art(Printmaking),Illustration(children’s educational publishing),casting costume/props for TV and a lifelong interest in puppetry &masks.
Now Helen’s work centres around sculptural assemblage(wood&found objects,papier-mache wire&clay)exploring and informed by traditional folk art practices and devotional objects of Poland and Mexico. Sam Mitchell and Helen Bacon met attending Elam School of Fine Art, and with Sam’s recent relocation to Whanganui,and Helen’s recent return to NZ,it augurs a new chapter for both in their respective creative practices.There’ll be colourful,quirky,original,handcrafted pieces available to purchase.
