McLeod Pottery is run by Fiona who enjoys her work as a potter. Fiona has been learning her craft for over 20 years ever since she was 18 and moved to New Zealand. Living in Castlecliff and being close to the beach inspires many of the colours in her work. She creates mainly functional domestic ware with the odd piece of garden art and sculptures. She also teaches pottery skills, both handbuilding and throwing. The main influence in her domestic ware is useability that will bring pleasure to the owner and beauty to the home it is in. She enjoys a challenge and likes commissions to create items she hasn’t made before and often adds them to the regular stock she sells at the Whanganui River Market. Her work can be found around the North Island of New Zealand in various galleries and gift shops.
