I have been playing with clay for 20 years and make all my items using the handbuilding method. I love both Raku and Pit Fire techniques as you are never 100% sure what the finished item will look like. I also do high fired items where the glaze colours are chosen and you know the exact outcome of the item.
I mostly create for the garden. Smaller items like Owls, Kereru, Kingfishers, Tuis, Hydrangea flowers, and Garden Orbs are my mainstay. I also do larger items like Totem Poles.
I have recently started doing other sculptural items like Apples, Pears, and Japanese Lanterns. I am also experimenting with almost life size penguins which I hope to have available for Open Studios
My policy is to keep prices low so that people can enjoy my work in their own home or garden and I can afford to buy the next bag of clay or the next glaze that I need.
