Tina is a Whanganui based textile artist and joined the Space Studio community about a year ago.
She has a background in silk painting, batik and photography before she discovered the medium of wool and the wet-felting technique at a Ucol summer school course in 2010.
Since then, she’s intrigued by the tactility of wool fibres and other textile materials, which she incorporates into her felt work during the transformative wet-felting process. The wool and the fabrics are often hand-painted or dyed beforehand.
In her recent works she experimented with acrylic paint on sheer silk fabric to add special colours, lines, layers and texture to her wool paintings.
Tina is inspired by light, colour and the natural world, which serve as mirrors to her internal landscapes and dreamlike Symbols and metaphors.
