Jodi uses line and composition to make strong statements of form and the complexities of visual language. Current works are an exploration of colour, modernism, decoration and the syntax of shapes.
She paints with acrylic on canvas and also creates ‘painted collages’ on paper.
‘I love the idea that symbolism shape and colour can be interpreted depending on the viewers life experience. Shape and composition are fascinating in the sense that they are trans-cultural and trans-historical. I work in a syntax of shapes. When the viewer asks what they should be seeing, I would rather they decide what they are seeing.’
