An established artist, Sue Cooke, works with drawing, etching, lithography, woodcut and collagraph. A graduate of Ilam School of Fine Arts at Canterbury University, Cooke spent her formative years as an artist in Christchurch, focusing on the landscape of the South Island. In 1990 she was selected to take up the Tylee Cottage Artist in Residence Programme for a year. At the end of that time Cooke decided to make Whanganui her base. Exhibiting locally, nationally and internationally Cooke focuses on landscape and issues of sustainability. Career highlights have been an exhibition with Rick Rudd at the Singapore High Commission in 1995, a trip to Antarctica in 2006, a Pollack Krasner Award in 2015 and a recent acceptance into the International Printmaking Exhibition run by the Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers in London.
