Meet the artists behind the art
20 - 28 March 2021
58 – The Fabric Artist’s Habitat
My studio is open for visitors in the afternoons only during the weekdays from 2pm to 4.30 !
Escape the city buzz for a while and discover the place where I live and work. Be as inspired as I am by the natural surroundings. Enjoy wonderful tactile felt art in a tranquil rural setting with the distant mountain and the sea as background. From my 4 acre habitat, it's only a 20 min walk or 2 min drive to the beautiful Kai Iwi Beach.
I'll open up my home studio and set up a rustic temporary gallery in a barn for the whole AOS week to present my hand felted wall art and objects alongside some demonstrations of techniques and materials I use and more.
The techniques for my art range from wet, needle and Nuno felting, plant dyeing & printing, silk painting and batik, textile design to photographic art.
My main focus this year is working with natural animal and plant fibres, plant dyeing or printing and other materials found on the land to create felted wall art and objects, that are decorative and some can also be functional.
Get a free glimpse of wet felting and other techniques during AOS weekends 10 am - 4 pm ( with about a 1h midday break) :
-Sat March 20: I'll be working on a Nuno felted Scarf am and pm
Sun March 21: I'll be working on eco-printed scarves am and pre felts pm
