AKA -The Magpie’s Handbag
My philosophy is to examine, deconstruct and reuse. By looking at the everyday materials around us, no matter how simple, we can recycle what we would otherwise discard.
If I could choose one phrase to describe myself it would be ‘Art Gypsy’.
As a gypsy roams from place to place, so it has been for me in Art. I have roamed between printmaking, pottery, painting, sculpture, kiln formed glass, silversmithing, and altered books. Currently I am focusing on jewellery making and small sculpture, using a mix of recycled and new materials to create something new. Each piece is a one off.
I profess to being a master of none of the above, but thrive on being a continual student. My greatest pleasure comes from learning and enjoying shared experiences with other Artists.
I have a BTEC Diploma in Foundation Art and Design with Distinction (York College, UK)
London City and Guilds Interior Design with Distinction
I have exhibited in New Zealand and the UK
The best piece of advice I can give any budding Artist lacking self confidence is just do it.
If the making gives you pleasure, the sharing will bring you so much more reward!
