Janis Cusack enjoys a variety of painting styles, subjects and media. She belongs to both the Wanganui and Stratford Art Societies and exhibits regularly with both.
Living in rural Whanganui, her favourite topics are to do with the land, animals, people of the land and the Science of how things work.
With a wide range of interests and responsibilities in the local community Janis enjoys the creative outlet in painting. She works steadily on the Art in amongst the farming, Science teaching, poultry club, dog showing and U3A Science.
Acrylic has become a favourite medium and sometimes acrylic on watercolour creates interesting effects.
She enjoys exploring her subject matter in terms of how to produce the colours and shapes on canvas with reasonable accuracy and still a degree of freedom. Painting is both a challenge and a way to explore the world around us.
