I am a blacksmith and armourer, who specialises in reproductions of medieval plate armour. I've been doing it for just over 12 years now, in NZ and Europe, and have spent an ungodly amount of time in various museums.
While usually I prefer making early maximilian style armour, recently I have been enjoying exploring 14th century transitional armours. The differences in articulation and the scarcity of reference material has been making it a nice challenge. My favourite armour however is Moro armour from the Phillipines. It's a cool blend of Filipino, Islamic, and Spanish material culture.
Often people have a bunch of preconceived ideas around armour, sometimes accurate, but often not.
Thanks Hollywood and other media ¯_(ツ)_/¯. I'm happy to answer any questions you have if you pop by, and I'll have pieces people can pick up and investigate. It's not like they're going to break if you drop them :D
Sometimes I forge household fittings and other small bar work as a break from armouring. I'll aim to have a a bit of a selection of these, as I know sculpting flexible metal exoskeletons is a bit of a niche market.
Previously I have done a fair bit on other topics such as kinetic fire sculptures, and stone knapping, so feel free to ask about that as well.
